SUSTAINABILITY

Automobili Lamborghini is committed to ensuring that its economic and business goals are consistent with the continuous improvement of environmental protection and energy efficiency.
The company is developing an integrated environmental strategy based on innovations in both its production processes and its products. This commitment enabled us to make the entire production facility CO2-neutral in 2015.  The construction of an integrated photovoltaic plant with an area of 17,000 square meters on the facility is part of this commitment. Also, Automobili Lamborghini is the first and only car manufacturer in Italy to have earned EMAS environmental certification. This important accreditation was awarded in July 2009, just a few months after the company achieved ISO 14001 certification for meeting international standards on environmental management.
2011 saw the opening of Lamborghini Park, part of the “Lamborghini for Biodiversity - Oak Forest Research Project”, involving the planting of more than 10,000 young oak trees in an area of approximately 70,000 square meters in the town of Sant’Agata Bolognese. This experimental study examined the relationships between plants, their density, climate and CO2, and was carried out in cooperation with the Municipality of Sant’Agata Bolognese, the Universities of Bologna and Bolzano in Italy, and the University of Munich in Germany. In 2011, Automobili Lamborghini also became the first car manufacturer in Italy to be granted ISO 50001 certification, thus reaffirming the company’s strong commitment to constantly improving its energy performance in every field.
In November 2012, Lamborghini signed an agreement with the Italian Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea - the first ever in Italy in the automotive sector - regarding joint projects for enhancing the environmental sustainability of production processes and products. Thanks to this agreement, a method was established for analyzing CO2 emissions and calculating the total produced (carbon footprint) during the production stages of carbon fiber monocoques and components, so that such emissions could be reduced and/or neutralized. Following this project, Lamborghini obtained ISO 14064 certification in September 2013. This is the first certification of its kind issued by DNV in the world.
